Sweet Summer Days

Summer. We have looked forward to it since January. We planned this year, saving a nice chunk from each check to maintain bills through August (wow did it hurt!). And now it is here. And we are enjoying it.

sweet summer days

This is the first year since Jon has been a teacher (8 years!) that he has not taught summer school or done anything outside of the home for work. I am still working (thankfully my job is at home), but getting my stuff done early so we can really enjoy.

The boys are ecstatic to have Jon home all the time. Their little giggles fill the room as he plays trains and Rescue Bots in ways that mommies like me just can’t imagine. I’ve heard more “I love you’s” in the past few days than I can count, and it makes me feel that warm gooey, “life is good” feeling that is almost too good to be true.

We are swimming, walking, going to the park, the museum, snuggling, getting muddy, watching movies and just enjoying each other.

We are looking forward to 9 weeks of sandy toes, flop flops, sunscreen, giggle, hugs and kisses.

Today I feel very blessed. We have our health, our happiness, each other and our sweet summer days…

Its great to be able to spend time with loved ones — then we can appreciate them even more!

I remember when I went to school to be a teacher that was my big thing is being off in the summer. Then I talked to all of my family members that were teachers and I realized that they brought tons of work home which made me really reconsider. I ended up doing corporate training instead. I am happy that your husband gets to be home with you all in the summer this year.
